Hand Strengthening Exercises

Hand exercise is best for strengthening the gripping power of the hands. Although one performs numerous jobs in whole day with the hands, but those jobs cannot be counted as hand exercise. People carry a lot of stress over their hands. Exercising the hands is a better way of relaxing the hand muscles.

There are different exercises that one can perform for strengthening the hands. These hand exercises should be performed on the table top that provide support to the forearms. These are some very simple exercises that one can perform very easily. Devotion of just five minutes from the regular frenzied schedule is well enough to do these exercises.

Finger Exercises 

For best functioning of hands, one should be able to touch the finger tips to the palm completely. This merthod should be performed by using one- two-three movement to stretch the fingers.

After touching the finger tip to the palm end, relax and begin to bend your fingers joints closest to the finger tip. Then try to bend your joint of knuckles.

For strengthening the fingers, just reverse the performed movements. Starting with the straightening of knuckles, move to middle joints and lastly straighten the fingertips.

One can perform this exercise either taking the fingers together or attending them individually. Take the help of other hand if necessary.

Thumb Exercise 

Hold the wrist in straight position; lightly touch the thumb to each fingertip in such a way that the letter “O”isformed.

After forming each “O”, straighten the fingers and spread them freely. Take the help of other hand is necessary.

Open and Close the Door:

Thisexercise stretches and strengthens the ligaments and muscles of forearm. The exercise includes turning doorknobs, opening the door, use of screwdriver, closing the door and relaxing of the hand.

Isometric Exercise:

This exercise is to tighten the muscles. First step is to join the palms of both the hands, imagine that there is a tomato in between the palms and apply force from both the hands on the palm to squeeze that tomato. This exercise helps in building up the muscles without giving pain to the joints.

One should perform the hand exercises everyday. Hand exercises strengthen the gripping power, increases adroitness and develop the wrist mobility.
